On September 14, National President David Neufeld visited Drumheller Institution for the first time. He was joined by RVP Zef Ordman and Local President Robert Jackson.
On September 13, President Neufeld and RVP Valda Behrens visited three RCMP sites in southern Alberta: the High River Detachment, the Turner Valley Detachment, and the satellite office in Eden Valley.
USJE is wholly committed to ensuring that federal public service employees within the RCMP have sufficient access to professional training and development, fully understand the recourse available to them in the event of harassment or workplace violence, and have access to appropriate and timely mental health supports.
Today in the House of Commons, Peter Julian, MP for New Westminster-Burnaby (British-Columbia) introduced a Private Member’s Bill in support of the Union of Safety and Justice Employee’s longstanding call to ensure more federal public safety personnel have access to Worker’s Compensation for mental health related injuries.
USJE wishes to inform members of some important decisions that were made at the recent USJE National Triennial Convention held in Whistler from July 18th – 21st 2023. This includes an upcoming dues increase and the establishment of the USJE National Strike Fund.
RVP Andréanne Samson discussed with NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice the decision by management to withdraw the union hall from USJE members at the RCMP’s C Division in Westmount. Mr. Boulerice, MP for Rosemont – La Petite Patrie and his political party’s Quebec lieutenant, contacted USJE himself to inquire about progress on the file.
National President David Neufeld reached out to incoming Minister of Public Safety, the Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, sending congratulations and an invitation to meet.

Debate concerning the establishment of a USJE National Strike Fund was vigorous. USJE’s next National Triennial Convention will take place in Québec City in 2026.
