USJE remains firmly committed to protecting members and ensuring harassment investigations are conducted by individuals who are truly independent from the employer. Members coming forward with harassment concerns deserve a system that is fair, trauma-informed, and free from any appearance of bias.
On March 9, 2026, REVP Jamey Mills, USJE RVPs Zoe Johnston and Kirsty Havard, along with PSAC Regional Representative Alex Vital Stuit, acting President of Local 20011 Tracy Zylyk and Mike Reeves from CSC, joined 30 public service employees and civilian members for an Information Gathering Lunch and Learn, at the RCMP E Division Headquarters in Surrey, British Columbia.
March 20, the USJE delegation of National President David Neufeld, RVP Heather McKinnon and members of the USJE Communications team closed out their tour of Manitoba RCMP sites.

On February 26, the Nova Scotia RCMP and the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia (BCCNS) announced a new, dedicated space for African Canadian Experience (ACE) Workshop programming as part of BCCNS’s Capital expansion.
Despite the measures taken, it was announced that Workforce Adjustment will be required to meet the operational savings targeted for the RCMP under the Comprehensive Expenditure Review.
On November 19, USJE’s Regional Vice President Valda Behrens met with NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi to discuss the value in investing in more boots on the ground for the RCMP, instead of an unproven Provincial Police Force.
On November 18, USJE Regional Vice President Valda Behrens and a member of the USJE Communications team attended the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) trade show. The event, part of RMA’s fall convention, welcomed over 800 delegates from 69 counties and municipalities across Alberta, the highest attendance for the event since RMA started in 1909. Delegates include town councilors, mayors, reeves, ministers, municipal staff, and other stakeholders.
For the first time in its history, USJE organized to have a booth at the trade show in order to share information about its Serving Together campaign, and our ongoing advocacy to not just keep, but strengthen, the role of the RCMP in Alberta.
