I am encouraged to learn that talks are resuming today and PSAC hopes to be bargaining throughout the weekend to reach a fair and equitable agreement. This is the number one priority for all federal Components of PSAC.
Whether you are on the picket line or at the office as an essential worker, we know these are not easy days. As we conclude the 9th day of the strike, it is my hope that a fair and equitable agreement will be reached at the bargaining table as soon as possible.
Effective today, April 26, USJE National Office will provide a $50 top up to the PSAC’s daily strike pay for those who are eligible for the strike pay. As stated, the monies will come out of the National reserves for a total allocation of $2,000,000.
As PSAC’s National General Strike continues, we want to thank each of you for your support and solidarity to ensure better working conditions for the over 150,000 public service employees represented by PSAC.
We need to continue to stand strong together if we are going to be successful at the bargaining table. It will take all of our members to do their part, whether they are on the strike line or currently in the workplace. We all have a role in pushing the employer for a fair deal.
We have received a large number of inquiries regarding RCMP Civilian Members and their status. We want to ensure that the direction from National Office is clear and widely broadcasted.
If you were scheduled to work weekend shifts, you’re still on strike, and must not report to work. Please complete this form for members scheduled to work over the weekend so that you can register for alternate strike support arrangements and receive strike pay.
Some of USJE’s members have been contacting us about whether or not progress is being made at the bargaining table. While we know the strike is definitely having an impact, it is the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s bargaining teams that are heavily involved in these discussions.
At an awards ceremony on March 27, 2023, six USJE members took centre stage in Ottawa to represent our union and the hard work our members accomplish.
