In response to pressure from PSAC, the federal government has finally agreed to halt recoveries of overpayments, emergency salary advances (ESA) and priority payments until employees’ pay files have been cleared of all outstanding transactions. This means employees will receive any and all funds they are owed before they must reimburse the employer for any overpayments or emergency pay.

Thanks to the efforts of so many people — including many USJE members — the federal budget has allocated funds to reopen the Collins Bay and Joyceville prison farms. USJE believes that all prison farms should be reopened and that this is a good start!
The federal government is going to scrap a “flawed” and “unacceptable” pay system that struggled to deliver pay to public servants, despite a price tag that will likely exceed $1 billion, Finance Minister Bill Morneau announced in his new budget tabled Tuesday in Parliament.
As many remember, Sister Tanisha Pascal-Nelson of Toronto CSC Community Parole passed away in 2017, survived by husband Sean Nelson and her four beautiful children, Elijah, Nathaniel, Promise and Fiza. In her memory, members across all regions and departments of USJE raised money to assist in funding Tanisha’s children’s education.
