On Tuesday, May 24th, USJE National President David Neufeld & Regional Vice President Jeff Sandelli hosted House of Commons Public Safety Chair, Jim Carr, on a tour of Stony Mountain Institution and the Osborne Community Correctional Centre in Winnipeg.

Today, the Canada-wide Union of Safety and Justice Employees released a new report on Canadian parole officers entitled, The Mental Health and Well-Being of Canadian Federal Parole Officers: A Qualitative Investigation.
USJE is pleased to announce the recipients of the USJE Scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year. Each student will receive $2,500 to go towards their post-secondary education.
National President David Neufeld visited the RCMP Sylvan Lake Detachment in central Alberta on May 6 with Regional Vice-President (RVP) Valda Behrens to meet with local members and to better understand their current working conditions and provide an update on national campaigns undertaken by USJE.
National President David Neufeld joined Regional Vice-President (RVP) Valda Behrens and USJE member Deborah Wiens in Red Deer, Alberta, on May 6, for a meeting with Alberta Minister of Education Adriana LaGrange to discuss the importance of keeping the RCMP in Alberta.
The time has come for Parole Officers to stand up together and follow their Collective Agreement by requesting paid overtime. In doing so, CSC will have no choice but to account for the workload that Parole Officers are facing and not just count on federal Parole Officers (USJE’s members) to simply put in for compensatory time.
