As was recently mentioned in the media the RCMP has announced that they are closing the labs in Winnipeg and Regina by March 2014 and in Halifax by March 2015.

The federal government is organizing National Public Service Week from June 10 to June 16.

This celebration is being organized at the same time as thousands of our fellow members are being handed affected notices because of the government’s reckless austerity agenda.

The USGE National Office recently received a draft communiqué from the RCMP on the Administrative Support Positions Review (ASPR) that is currently on-going.

The USGE National Office has received a number of calls from members asking for further information on possible cuts coming to our various employers as a result of last week’s Austerity Budget.

Further to our last Communiqué on November 9, 2011, the committee met on December 6 and 8, 2011 at the Minto Suites Hotel, in Ottawa.

CSC recently introduced an Attendance Management Program (AMP) department-wide in an attempt to rein in spiraling HR costs and possible abuses of sick leave credits.

While USGE has always been cooperative with its fellow bargaining agents, professional associations and all types of organized labour I am completely fed up with constant attacks and degrading comments made by RCMP Staff Relations Representatives against Public Service Employees working with the RCMP.

A recent article in the Ottawa Citizen is shining the light on the cause of the current toxic environment at the RCMP.

Despite tough economic times and a less-than-labour friendly government, this is turning out to be a very exciting time for USGE-PSAC members in the federal public service.
