Update on collective agreement implementation for SV and TC Groups

Given that employees are paid in arrears, members in the SV and TC groups should have begun seeing new rates starting with the July 26 pay day. Your new salary rate should now be reflected in your pay. If you find any mistakes in your pay, contact the human resources unit in your department and notify your PSAC union representative.

​USGE congratulates scholarship winner Erika Eastman

Earlier this summer, on June 6, 2017, former USGE Regional Vice President Nancy Burton and Local President Stacey Gauthier of Local 20156 Mountain Institution awarded Erika Eastman a $2,500.00 Paul Gascon scholarship on behalf of USGE. The award was presented at the morning briefing with many Local USGE members in attendance.

Labour Board upholds USGE/PSAC complaint

Over 50 USGE members working in the Pacific Region of the Correctional Service Canada, whose hours of work were changed in 2014 during bargaining with Treasury Board, have won back pay and benefits after USGE and PSAC filed a complaint.

Day four and Convention wraps up!

Day four began with a talk from National Office staff member, Diane Leduc who provided an informative and passionate presentation about her struggles with Lyme disease. Sister Leduc has been on long-term disability for most of 2017 while she deals with the significant symptoms of this debilitating illness. 

RECAP: USGE’s National Triennial Convention – Day 2

Day 2 of USGE’s 2017 triennial convention was filled with healthy debate and discussion surrounding dozens of resolutions from three different committees. The Finance, Bylaw and General Resolutions committees tabled resolutions that would SIGNIFICANTLY change the face of USGE.
